Your business checklist for success in 2022

Your business checklist for success in 2022

Check your contract end date

Commercial contracts are secured for a selected period of time, commonly, this will be between 12 and 60 months. Each of your bills from your supplier will have your contract end date stated on them – you might need to look carefully as suppliers can be very clever at hiding this information.

You can start to shop around before this date to review the prices and potential savings available from the live market, If it is due before January 2024, we can price and secure new rates now to ensure you get the best deal possible.

Check you are not paying out of contract

OOC rates (out-of-contract rates) are the rates you are required to pay due to not being signed up to a contracted deal with your supplier. Some suppliers are charging more than £1.00 pkwh vs the current in contract market average of 45pkwh. This amount of excess can be more than double your current spend.

Find a trusted broker who advise their uplift

An uplift in simple terms is the commission that your broker will make for you signing the contract. At Tribe we will never hide our uplifts from you. We will always disclose our contracted commission amount, so you are able to see clearly how much we are to be paid by the supplier. Furthermore, we offer a unique cost approach whereby we provide a base rate price and allow the customer to take control over their uplift based upon the work we have completed – We are 1 of a few in the whole industry that offer this service.

We will always renew you where possible.

Do not believe the gimmicks some brokers offer

If you feel it is too good to be true, 9 times out of 10 it is! Many brokers promise the world with offers such as cash back, high street shop gift vouchers and free Installation of Energy Management System (EMS). You may be unaware of this, but you are paying for these “benefits” through your energy contract. The cost will have been factored into their uplift and your company will be paying higher unit rates as a result.
